A2RL Closing Ceremony – Yas Marina Circuit
The inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) inaugural race took place on 27 April 2024 at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit, marking a milestone in motorsport with the debut of fully autonomous, formula-style racing cars.
To close the event, ARLD was commissioned to deliver a dynamic lighting show that complemented a large-scale fireworks display by Flash Art Fireworks and an integrated drone performance by SKYMAGIC. The challenge was to create a cohesive visual spectacle across an expansive circuit environment, synchronising multiple disciplines into a unified finale.
A key milestone for the project was the integration and operation of the circuit’s Musco sports lighting system, the permanent infrastructure responsible for illuminating both the track and grandstands. This marked the first time external designers were entrusted with full creative control of the system, unlocking its potential as a show lighting tool rather than purely functional illumination.
The result was a high-impact closing sequence that transformed the circuit into a canvas of light, seamlessly blending architectural scale, broadcast requirements, and live spectacle to celebrate the future of motorsport.
